♫ In January, we shall be returning to Music for Little People after enjoying family time together. The children will be excited about the new gifts they have received and I am sure they would like to share that excitement with their new friends at music class.
♫ Music for Little People has lots of exciting material planned for the spring term. We shall be thinking of time spent with families and gift giving as we sing songs and listen to music about dolls, teddy-bears and other toys. The children especially love the "teddy-throw" song that comes at this time of year, which helps with counting skills. We'll also be warming ourselves up by "chopping the chillies out" at the beginning of the term and gradually warming up for the spring with lots of songs which will herald the warmer weather.

MFLP CD
A CD of the Autumn term music is available which replicates as closely as possible what happens in a Music for Little People class in order to maintain the familiar structure enjoyed by the children. There are marching songs, songs to stop and listen to the traffic and rhythms to tap along with. Lullabies are in a special section at the end so you can use the CD at bed-time. Some of the songs will be traditional favourites which some of the children will already be familiar with and others are those especially composed for the classes by Karen Dickinson. The cost is £10 per copy including postage and packing – email Karen if you'd like a copy. More about the CD |
Pedagogical Influences
Music For Little People uses methods developed by two distinguished educators in the field of music: John Curwen (1816-80) and Zóltan Kodály (1882-1967).

A Talent for Music?
"What is spoiled or omitted at this age cannot be put right later on.
In these years man's future is decided practically for his whole lifetime."
- Zoltan Kodály
Music is not a gift or a talent, but a language that can be learned by anyone capable of attention, awareness and memory.
