 Karen Dickenson

KAREN DICKINSON MA LTCL is the Director and creator of MUSIC FOR LITTLE PEOPLE. She graduated from Dartington College of Arts, Devon, England with an Honours degree in music. She completed a teaching diploma in Music Education from the Trinity College of Music; London, England in 1992 and in 1996 was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Music Education from the Institute of Education, London University, England.

Her 20,000 word dissertation proposed a music curriculum for pre-school children.

Karen believes that the preschool years are a critical period for learning and that music helps lay a strong foundation for later achievement in all subjects. Her principal instrument is the voice which provides a very direct way of communicating with the children in her classes.

JAYNE BROWN gained a BA (Hons) in Music and English from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2003. Her principal instrument is the Clarinet and she also plays the Saxophone. She is currently studying for a diploma with the Associated Board (dipABRSM).

Sarah Grealis

SARAH GREALIS BA (Hons) gained a Silver Medal in Speech and Drama from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Her instruments are voice and recorder. She has taught primary school children, been involved in Drama productions and has sung in various choirs - she also brings to classes the experience that comes from having her own two "little people"!

ANN HEAVENS  MA (Oxon) LRAM  has an English degree  and  Post Graduate Teaching Certificate from Oxford University, and a Diploma in Singing from the Royal Academy of Music. As a professional actress and singer she performs everything from Wagner to Victoria Wood and sings regularly for the Council for Music in Hospitals. She also teaches piano and singing privately to adults and children of all ages.  Ann has two very musical ‘Little People’ of her own, now in their twenties!

CLAIRE LUDLAM gained a BEd (Hons) in Music and Education from Homerton College, Cambridge in 2004. Her principal instruments are the Piano, Violin and Voice and she also plays flute, recorder and guitar. She has worked as a Music coordinator in Willingham Primary School and most recently at Fawcett School where she was also assistant Headteacher. She has directed musicals and been responsible for choirs, bands, and percussion, recorder and guitar groups in her school career.  She also introduced drumming and saxophone lessons and a hand bell ringing group.  Claire also teaches piano, violin, guitar and recorder and has two "little people"  who attend Music for Little People classes in Cambridge!

SARAH MASTERS gained a BSc in Music Technology from Birmingham City University in 2005. Her principal instruments are the Flute and Violin and she also plays the Guitar. She has worked with early years as a member of MusicLeader West Midlands and has worked extensively with children with physical and learning difficulties including work at Birmingham Symphony Hall.  She also teaches flute, violin and music theory privately and has recently given birth to Will, a bouncing baby boy!

Sharon Russo

SHARON RUSSO has studied music since the age of five and completed training to become a "Music for Little People" teacher in 1999. Sharon is also a private music teacher, teaching piano and theory to all ages.

Namrata Shah

NAMRATA SHAH (NAMI) I received my BA in Music from Leeds University and am currently studying for a Masters in Classical Voice at Leeds College of Music. I sing with Leeds Baroque Choir and various Opera productions and have worked with the education departments at Glyndebourne and Opera North. I love ‘little people’ and being the eldest cousin in the house, I have had many years of entertaining the little ones.

Tracey Steward

TRACY STEWARD BEd (Hons) gained an honours degree in Music Education from Rolle College, Devon. Her instruments are Voice, Recorder, Cello and Piano and she sings with Peterborough Opera and Cantatrici. Tracy's previous role was that of a Music Coordinator in a Primary School before leaving to have two "little people" of her own.

Rebecca Vicary

REBECCA VICARY LGSM DDA comes to Music for Little People from a career as a professional actress and singer. She has been teaching Music for Little People classes since1998. Rebecca is also a private music teacher, teaching piano and theory up to Grade VIII standard.
